My name is D.M. Samms. I'm a Biblical Counselor specializing in helping others overcome depression. I was born again in 2004, evangelizing streets all over California, and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all that would hear.

Because my own personal testimony had been a lifetime succumbed to depression, I understand the peaks and valleys, the victories and vicious cycles. After a particularly hard 5 year episode, God began to reveal to me the principals He laid out in the Bible to overcome depression. And I am honored to say that God has set me free from what the Bible calls a Spirit of Heaviness!
From that freedom came a necessity to fulfill a lifelong dream of helping others overcome their mental struggles through Biblical means. And that is what Storm Breakers is founded on. God led me to write my first book, Storm Breakers: Silence the Storm of Depression, which you can pick up on Amazon or in our shop. And He instructed me to open Storm Breakers Effective Biblical Counseling, where individuals struggling with mental turmoil can receive Biblical instruction and tactics that work.

What to Expect
Biblical Counseling differs from most other forms of counseling in several ways.

First and foremost, Biblical Counseling is designed to define and strengthen the counselee's relationship with Jesus Christ.

We believe the Bible, and not any other document, is the preeminent source to overcoming all of life's struggles and is endued with the necessary power by God to overcome any situation, any sin, any struggle.

Prayer is a vital, and valid, strategy in counseling.

While some situations are more complex and require longer periods of care, Biblical Counseling is not designed to be a months or years-long process. It is designed to equip and send, just as Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20.​

Homework, to include reading, studying scripture and other activities, will be required of counselees.

At Storm Breakers, the first session will be 80 minutes, so that the counselor can learn the individual(s) background and develop a tailored course of action. Subsequent sessions will be 50 minutes.
Fees
Storm Breakers Effective Biblical Counseling wants the Word of God, and its wisdom, to be available to all who seek the power contained therein. We have also found that those who have invested in their freedom have been more likely to see sustained success.
With that in mind, we have decided to operate on a sliding scale, depending on the individual's finances. The maximum rate will be $80 per 50 minute session, or $120 for the initial 80 minute session. Couples will be $140 for the initial 80 minute session, and $100 per subsequent meeting.

We also ask that clients who are able consider giving in addition to their regular rate. Your donation is an investment in the mental health of those who cannot afford it. Please, only give as God leads, as scripture declares that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7). Any offerings should be above and beyond what you normally give to your home church.

We trust that the Lord will provide for His ministries and servants, and that includes Storm Breakers.
